Montgomery County Sheriff's Lead Booby Trap Training with West Chester SWAT Team
Submitted by Teresa W. Harris, Communications & Public Relations Coordinator for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office - 2/24/2017
West Chester SWAT learned that rushing into dangerous situations, as they are trained to do, may not always be a good idea. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Unit led a training with Philadelphia Police Department Bomb Squad and FBI trainers that helped West Chester SWAT figure out how to carefully navigate a booby-trapped crime scene house at Arcadia University. Officers tried their best to walk around and inside of the two-story house and attic without setting off any of the 16 traps that had been placed there earlier. Staying focused and marking trapped were critical training points in keeping everyone safe while learning to work potentially dangerous scenes. Great job everyone!
