A Lower Burrell man who allegedly threatened sheriff's deputies Monday was arrested without incident at his home early Tuesday.
Jeffrey D. Monteleone, 48, of Claremont Drive was taken into custody outside his house, Westmoreland County Sheriff Jon Held said Tuesday.
Lower Burrell police Chief Tim Weitzel said city officers assisted because of Monteleone's alleged threats to shoot law enforcement officers.
On Monday, Monteleone allegedly threatened a deputy who was serving him with court papers in a civil court manner.
About 45 minutes later, Monteleone telephoned a threat to deputies, police said.
“He threatened to open fire on any law enforcement that set foot on his property,” Weitzel said.
On Tuesday morning, Monteleone was outside his home when officers arrived about 8 a.m., and he didn't resist, the chief said.
District Judge Cheryl Peck Yakopec arraigned Monteleone and ordered him sent to the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail pending a June 21 preliminary hearing.
Held said Monteleone has a criminal record, including a recently resolved case.
On April 12, a county judge found Monteleone guilty of simple assault in a Lower Burrell case from November 2013. His sentencing in that case is scheduled for July 5.
